The 7th National Congress of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarder Association (ALFI/ILFA) convened in Jakarta on Monday 11 December, under the rather lengthy title: “Optimizing the Role of ALFI/ILFA to Improve Logistics Performance and Investment Towards Indonesia’s Golden Age 2045.”
Addressing the need for enhanced performance in Indonesia’s vital logistics sector, the congress brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for bolstering the nation’s logistics capabilities and driving economic growth.
By way of background, Indonesia has set its sights on the goal of achieving Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) by 2045, the year which marks Indonesia’s centenary as an independent nation. The Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision (in Indonesian: Visi Indonesia Emas 2045 or Wawasan Indonesia Emas 2045) is based on the ideal that the country will be a sovereign, advanced, fair and prosperous nation by its centennial in 2045. The vision was launched by president Joko Widodo back in May 2019, with the optimistic view that Indonesia will become the world’s fourth or fifth largest economy by 2045.
Speeches presented at the Logistics Congress on Monday, as reported in the Shipping Gazette, included the following:
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi stressed the importance of collaboration between logistics businesses and stakeholders. “What we are facing now is how to position ALFI as a more prestigious institution for logistics businesses. On the other hand, we all remember that our logistics index is still not good and is lower than our neighboring countries,” said Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.
Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia presented the achievements of investment in the past five years. “In the past five years, the achievement of investment in Indonesia has been quite good. In 2022, the realization of investment reached Rp1,284.2 trillion, an increase of 39.7% compared to 2021,” said Bahlil Lahadalia.
ALFI Chairman Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi said that in order to achieve Indonesia’s Golden Age 2045, investment and exports need to be boosted as the main drivers of economic growth.
“ALFI and its members have a strategic role to play in supporting the dream of Indonesia’s Golden Age 2045,” said Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi.
