Commitment by Terminals & Stevedores
PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) and Indonesia Stevedoring Companies’ Association (APBMI) marked their agenda to sustain their long-term collaboration by the signing of a joint statement and commitment last Friday. SPMT President Director Drajat Sulistyo and APBMI Chairman Juswandi Kristanto directly signed this statement of joint commitment.
The goal is to continue to build up mutual principles on stevedoring activities, including the principles of health, safety, and environment protection (HSE/K3L). Additionally, the statement of joint commitment also messages a future business trend: Both signatories understand that the future business will benefit from collaboration rather than competition.
In his remark speech, the SPMT President Mr Drajat said: “Our appreciation and gratitude to all elements of APBMI in improving K3L for loading and unloading activities in our operating area. I hope this becomes momentum for a tighter collaboration in the future. In addition, we also expect that this joint commitment will build awareness for all stevedoring companies and any parties and personals involved to always pay attention to and prioritize K3L principles to achieve the best performance and zero fatality.”
APBMI Chairman Juswandi revealed that APBMI supports this collaboration that prioritizes the HSE principles saying, “We really support zero accidents because safety is important, and we always support Pelindo Multi Terminal programs.”
There are ten key points covered within the joint commitment statement.
First, establishing policies for the development and implementation of HSE programs; second, complying with statutory requirements; third, carrying out hazard identification and risk control before carrying out work; Fourth, maintaining, communicating, and complying with all K3L Policies;
Fifth, increasing awareness and ability of workers to implement K3L aspects; sixth, continuously developing measures to prevent work accidents; seventh, encouraging the involvement and commitment of workers and work partners to contribute to the K3L program; eighth, carrying out work accident investigations and follow-ups; ninth, imposing sanctions on workers or parties who commit violations of non-compliance with the implementation of K3L,
Tenth, PT Pelindo Multi Terminal and APBMI will then convey and describe the implementation and supervision of K3L in the loading and unloading of goods in the work area of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal and the requirements for carrying out activities for all branches in PT Pelindo Multi Terminal and all of its Subsidiaries as well as all APBMI Members at the Central, Regional, Branch and Branch Representative levels.
