Indonesia’s leading container terminal in oceangoing trade, Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), has announced a new service through Gold Star Line Shipping. The new service, called ZXB, will serve the Asia – America trade.

The service rotation includes Laem Chabang – Cai Mep – Haiphong – Yantian – Kaohsiung – Kingston – Baltimore – Norfolk – New York – Boston – Jakarta. This route will be the choice of customers who export and import goods on the Asia – America route.
The Gold Star Line operates 60 vessels, with an annual capacity of 630,550 TEU and operations in 183 ports around the globe.
ZXB stands for ZIM Xpress Baltimore. One of the key features of the upgraded ZXB service is its new connection from Southeast Asia and South China to ZIM’s Latin America regional network, Philadelphia, and the US Gulf. The premium service includes a New York call at Maher terminal and unique direct coverage from Jakarta and Haiphong.
The ZIM vessels will operate on the following route:
Yantian – Cai Mep – Baltimore – New York – Boston – Yantian.
The service commences with a bi-weekly frequency and is expected to build up to weekly soon.
The ZXB service maiden voyage to JICT was served by a Hong Kong Flagged vessel MV. Seaspan Emerald. This 294-meter-long ship carries 2,000 shipping containers which are served at JICT’s northern pier. After MV Seaspan Emerald, other ZXB service ships will start to dock at JICT on a weekly basis.
Commending this new service, JICT Operation Director P Thavaneswaran explained that this new service indicates that the national economy is recovering and proves the shipping company’s great trust to JICT. “It has become our commitment to continue to provide the best terminal experience to service users,” he said. JICT will continue to guarantee reliable container port services and continue to innovate so that it remains the terminal of choice for customers in Indonesia, he added.
The stated aim of ZXB is to offer customers a range of advantages including the fastest transit time to Baltimore, guaranteed space and equipment without rolling, late cut off from Asia ports, dedicated out-of-gate lane to avoid queues in Baltimore, and expedited rail, air and road connections to inland destinations, according to the Israeli shipping line.
