Garuda Explores New Partnerships

National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is exploring a potential collaboration with PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) in the logistics and transportation sector. The two state-owned companies met on January 08 at the Garuda Indonesia Management Building at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang.

The meeting focused on four key topics: cooperation in managing Hajj cargo, last-mile services, middle-mile air transport, and leveraging Pos Indonesia’s network to enhance national logistics distribution.

This comes a week after Garuda publicly confirmed its ongoing exploration of a potential corporate action involving a merger with Pelita Air, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina. Garuda Indonesia’s management emphasized that this merger plan is still in the early stages of discussion.

In the discussions with Pelita Air, Garuda has indicated that it is preparing an initial study and is discussing with key stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as the primary shareholder of Garuda Indonesia. This initiative, according to management, aims to optimize various business opportunities and strengthen the ecosystem of the air transportation industry.

The collaboration with Pos Indonesia is part of Garuda Indonesia’s broader efforts to expand services and offer more integrated logistics solutions, both for domestic and international needs.

Garuda Indonesia’s management expressed confidence that these partnerships would have a positive impact on the company’s future prospects, increase the efficiency and reach of their services, strengthen the national logistics ecosystem, and support faster deliveries across Indonesia.

Garuda Indonesia’s commercial director Ade R. Susardi emphasized that the synergy aligns with the company’s efforts to strengthen cargo and logistics distribution services across Indonesia. “This partnership will open new opportunities to develop both air and ground logistics services, supporting the needs of communities and industries in various regions,” he said.
