The Jakarta International Container Terminal 2 (JICT 2) is projected to handle up to 500,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) annually once it begins operations, boosting the overall capacity of Indonesia’s leading port, Tanjung Priok, into 12 million TEUs, from the current figure 11.5 million TEUs per annum.
Currently undergoing revitalization, JICT 2 is scheduled to be completed by 2026, with operations expected to commence in 2027.

The first Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) marked a significant milestone with the arrival of the CMA CGM Kauri on its maiden voyage, Thursday, February 06, 2025. This new service signals JICT’s anticipated growth and increasing confidence from global shipping stakeholders.
In 2024, JICT handled over 2 million TEUs of export-import container volume, reinforcing its position as a key player in Indonesia’s maritime logistics sector. The CMA CGM Kauri service strengthens trade routes by linking Northern China and the Philippines with Indonesian ports through JICT, facilitating smoother and more efficient cargo movement.
Connecting Indonesia with Northern China
The CMA CGM Kauri is a state-of-the-art container ship, part of the American Presidents series operated by APL. Built to support the growing demands of global trade, the vessel is one of ten sister ships designed to optimize maritime logistics across key trade routes.
Measuring 255 meters in length, the CMA CGM Kauri boasts 800 reefer plugs, making it ideal for transporting temperature-sensitive cargo such as perishable goods and pharmaceuticals. With a total capacity of 5,500 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), the vessel maximizes space utilization while maintaining operational efficiency.
