Container Terminals Set High Standards

08 November 2023

Terminal Teluk Lamong is handling a new Intra-Asia service covering routes from Jakarta and Surabaya to China and South Korea. Meanwhile, Jakarta International Container Terminal becomes the first of Indonesia’s container terminals to comply with ISO 22301:2019, a certificate for the ‘Business Continuity Management System.’

TTL Handles HMM’s Intra Asia ICN Services
Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo, now handles a new Intra-Asia service called Cross Network (ICN Service). Run by HMM Shipping Line, the ICN Service will cover the route Jakarta – Surabaya – Pusan – Shanghai – Ningbo.

TTL expects this new weekly service will boost export and import activities from/to Indonesia and trigger national economy growth.

TTL was built as a part of expansion of Tanjung Perak Port. Equipped with semi-automatic and environmentally friendly equipment, it offers the best solution to break up congestion and speed up the process of goods flow distribution – particularly to and from the Eastern Region of Indonesia.

The call of MV.PELICAN on 25 October was the maiden voyage of the ICN Service to TTL. It is a large vessel, but easily facilitated here as the terminal has a depth of up to 14 m. The PELICAN is TTL’s 5th new route service in 2023. Many more routes are expected to be established.

As reported in the Indonesian Shipping Gazette, through the BCM System, JICT can ‘focus and ensure business continuity in cases of disasters and emergencies that have the potential to stop operations.’

PT JICT received the certification on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 from TUV Rheinland, which is valid for 3 years, making it the first container terminal in Indonesia to receive ISO 22301 certification.
